Cancellation Policy

Flexible travel guidelines you can trust.

We understand that plans can change. This Cancellation Policy explains the terms that apply if you cancel, modify, or reduce a confirmed reservation. Our goal is to be fair and transparent while accounting for the operational nature of private yacht charters in a remote destination.

1. Guest-Initiated Cancellations

If you cancel a confirmed reservation, the following refund terms apply:

  • More than 8 weeks before embarkation: 50% refund of the total charter amount

  • 4 weeks or less before embarkation: 20% refund of the total charter amount

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing.

2. Rebooking Option (Fairness Clause)

Whenever possible, we try to minimize loss for our guests.

If we are able to successfully rebook your canceled dates with another group for the same charter period, we may offer a full refund of payments made, at our discretion, depending on the rebooking outcome and any costs already incurred.

 

3. Bad Weather / Safety-Related Cancellations (Full Refund)

San Blas is a naturally protected sailing destination and generally enjoys stable conditions. Light or occasional tropical rain is normal and does not affect sailing quality or safety.

However, safety always comes first. If travel or operations become unsafe or impractical due to conditions such as:

  • Persistent, non-stop heavy rain

  • Road access being cut off or unsafe

  • Weather/sea conditions that compromise safety or essential logistics

...and the charter cannot take place, then a full refund applies.

We communicate clearly and proactively if conditions require changes.

4. World Health Crisis Policy (Full Refund)

If a global health crisis or pandemic results in travel being disrupted in a way that prevents the charter from taking place, all payments made toward your booking will be fully refunded.

5. Conflict / Extraordinary Disruption Policy (Free Cancellation)

Free cancellation applies if your sailing vacation cannot take place due to extraordinary disruption associated with international conflict or instability that prevents travel or operations.

(This policy may be extended to include disruptions linked to conflicts affecting the region)

6. Partial Cancellations / Reduced Guest Count

If one or more members of your group decide not to travel for personal reasons, standard cancellation conditions apply to the affected portion of the booking.

For reservations where guest-based daily rates apply (e.g., additional guests), cancellation fees may be calculated using the relevant per-guest daily rate, depending on the vessel and agreed pricing.

7. How to Cancel

To cancel your booking, you must notify us in writing via email. Your cancellation is effective only once you receive written confirmation from San Blas Yacht Charters.

8. Travel Insurance (Strongly Recommended)

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers trip cancellation and interruption, especially for international travel. Insurance can protect you in cases such as illness, injury, or unforeseen personal circumstances.
